Notes: Summary A new converter, transferring energy from water waves into electromagnetic oscillations, i.e. into an alternating electric current, is proposed. In this converter, an oscillating circuit is combined with a plate capacitor immersed into water. The water waves propagate through the capacitor, thus periodically changing its capacity. In the vicinity of the resonance, under certain conditions to be examined in the paper, stable parametrically excited vibrations are generated in the circuit. In order to show that these conditions can be met in practice, the design of a test converter is outlined, and numerically verified.
