Notes: Acetic anhydride treatment of 6-(benzylpenicilloylamido)-hexanoic acid bis(benzylammonium) salt (1a) in formic acid gave the N4-formylated derivatives 2a and 2b as diastereomeric mixtures. The inhibitory capacity of these haptens was assessed in a precipitating system involving anti-D-α-benzylpenicilloyl antibody and D-α-benzylpenicilloyl antigen.
