The reaction of niobocene trihydride [Cp2NbH3] with ClPbMe3 in the presence of amine affords the plumbido dihydride complex [Cp2NbH2(PbMe3)] (1). Compound 1 represents the first example of a stable complex with neighbouring hydride and terminal plumbyl substituents. The structure of this compound has been established by NMR and IR spectroscopy and confirmed by an X-ray structure analysis.
