Abstract The determination of prostate-specific antigen is credited with dramatic advances in the early detection of men with prostatic carcinoma. This report summarizes the history of biochemical research and current status of prostate-specific antigen in tumor diagnostics.

Zusammenfassung Der Bestimmung des prostataspezifischen Antigens werden erhebliche Fortschritte in der Früherkennung von Männern mit Prostatakarzinom zugeschrieben. In dieser Arbeit wird die Geschichte der biochemischen Forschung und der gegenwärtige Stand des prostataspezifischen Antigens in der Tumordiagnostik dargestellt.
