Nitrosylthiocyantes of iron, cobalt and nickel are formed by the reaction of metal nitrosyl halides with potassium or silver thiocyanate. Similarly to these compounds, the nitrosylaryl and nitrosylalkyl mercaptides are obtained. They react with tertiary organic phosphines, arsines and stibines (L) as well as with o-phenanthroline (L2) forming the complexes M(NO)2LR (M = Fe, Co; R = NCS, SC6H5, SC2H5), [Ni(NO)LR]2 and Ni(NO)L2R (R = SCN, NCS, SC6H5).

Nitrosylrhodanide der Eisenmetalle können durch Umsetzung der entsprechenden Nitrosylhalogenide mit Kalium- bzw. Silberrhodanid dargestellt werden. Auf gleiche Weise erhält man die bereits bekannten Nitrosylaryl- und Nitrosylakylmercaptide dieser Elemente. Das komplexchemische Verhalten dieser Verbindungen schließt sich weitgehend dem der entsprechenden Nitrosylhalogenide an: mit Organylen des Phosphors und seiner Homologen (L) und mit o-Phenanthrolin (L2) entstehen Komplexe der Typen M(NO)2LR (M = Fe, Co; R = NCS, SC6H5, SC2H5), bzw. [Ni(NO)LR]2und Ni(NO)L2R (R = SCN, NCS, SC6H5).
