PCl5 · VCl4 dissolved in AsCl3 reacts with AsF3 yielding gaseous PF5. Further fluorination by means of AsF3 leads to the mixed halogenides V2Cl3F5 and VClF3 exhibiting, at room temperature, relatively high Cl2 dissoziation pressures.Elemental fluorine interacts with VCl3 at 180°C forming a new, light-green modification of VF4.

PCl5 · VCl4 reagiert in AsCl3 mit Arsentrifluorid unter Entwicklung von PF5. Eine weitere Zugabe von AsF3 führt zu gemischten Halogeniden V2Cl3F5 und VClF3. Beide Verbindungen — besonders die letztere — haben schon bei Zimmertemperatur einen merklichen Chlordampfdruck, so daß eine Darstellung gemischter Chloridfluoride des Vanadiums durch Chlorieren von Vanadinfluoriden bei höherer Temperatur nicht möglich ist. Fluor setzt sich mit VCl3 bei 180°C zu einer noch nicht beschriebenen hellgrünen Modifikation des Vanadin(IV)-fluorids um.
