Notes:
Summary After a left mastoïdectomy, a six-year-old child remains deeply comatose and dies twelve days later. The anaesthetic used was ether. The pathological findings included completely demyelinated areas, often sharply outlined, in the cerebral white matter and typical anoxic necrosis of the cerebral cortex and of the Sommer sector in the cornu Ammonis. Seven cases of post-anaesthetic leucoencephalopathies previously published are briefly recalled.
