Notizen: Abstract There is still debate about whether the ciliary muscle is innervated by the sympathetic nervous system. We investigated the amplitude and the dynamics of accommodation under influence of the non-selective beta-blocker timolol. For this purpose the variations in thickness of the human lens during step-like changes in accommodation were measured with high-resolution A-scan echography. Results showed that the dynamics of accommodation, expressed in the time constants of the response, were affected as well as the amplitude.
