Notes:
A polynomial subdistribution method for analyzing the correlation profile in photon correlation spectroscopy of polymer solutions is described. This method generates a continuous distribution function from the measured photoelectron time-correlation function, which can be related to particle size or molecular weight distribution of solute. The method is tested using simulated data for unimodal and bimodal distributions and compared with cumulant and histogram methods, respectively. The polynomial subdistribution method has an advantage in that it not only generates a continuous distribution curve but also works well for bimodal distributions whose peaks are close together.
