Abstract Earlier investigations revealed that glass surfaces may get catalytic properties by hydrogen spillover. Occasional activations by oxyhydrogen reaction, observed there, were executed systematically now and revealed high and stable degrees of activity of glass activated in this way. The activation energies for the hydrogenation of cyclohexene on the glass 'catalyst' are 18.1 kJ mol-1 (T 〉 367 K) 33.6 kJ mol-1 (T 〉 367 K)
