Notizen: In winter/spring 1984 resistance to metalaxyl developed in Phytophthora infestans within tomato greenhouses in Preveza, Greece. The appearance of resistant isolates followed continuous applications of metalaxyl and prevalence of weather conditions favourable for late blight. The majority of resistant isolates grew on tomato leaf discs floated on solutions containing 100 μg/ml metalaxyl whereas sensitive isolates were inhibited at concentrations of 0.1 μg/ml.In trials within polyethylene tunnels metalaxyl had no effect on the development of the late blight induced by resistant strains but both a mixture of this fungicide with mancozeb and mancozeb alone, gave satisfactory control of the disease when applied in a 7-day schedule.

Notizen: [Auszug] Because of the complex mixture of delayed neutron activities already found in fission1, an approach via fission would not be easy. Chemical separation, should also be avoided because of the short half-lives expected. A feasible way of studying the prospective delayed neutron precursors would, ...

Notizen: An isolate of Botrytis cinerea Pers. ex Fr. insensitive to vinclozolin, procymidone and iprodione was obtained from strawberries which had been inoculated with a benomyl-insensitive isolate of the pathogen and sprayed with iprodione. This isolate maintained its insensitivity to benomyl and also showed resistance to quintozene and dicloran. Tests on detached strawberry fruits showed that the iprodione-insensitive isolate was as virulent as a sensitive isolate. No difference was found in the amounts of the fungicides taken up by the insensitive and sensitive isolates of the fungus.

Notizen: Abstract Due to the interaction with components present in natural waters, radionuclides may be present in different physico-chemical forms, varying in size, charge and density. The distribution pattern will influence the transport, mobility and biological uptake of the radionuclides. Size fractionation based on hollow fiber is useful for the determination of the size distribution pattern of radionuclides in natural waters. Furthermore, a continuous mixing and separation system has been developed for the investigation of the association of radionuclides with naturally occurring colloids. Results based on radionuclides in waste water from the Forsmark nuclear power plant, Sweden, will illustrate the potential usefulness of the technique.
