    Notes: Abstract Proceeding from previous studies on cells in area 18, neurophysiological experiments were carried out using combinations of deterministic and statistical stimuli. The evaluation of the results on the space, time and amplitude characteristics of the cells show that for nearly all cells in this area, pattern distorition and shift due to motion are eliminated by spatial asymmetry of the coupling and specific combinations of on-off systems. So, the extraction of features despite pattern movement is possible in area 18. The features are extracted in the low spatial frequency range.

    Notes: Abstract Topographical and functional aspects of neuronal plasticity were studied in the primary somatosensory cortex of adult rats in acute electrophysiological experiments. Under these experimental conditions, we observed short-term reversible reorganization induced by intracortical microstimulation or by an associative pairing of peripheral tactile stimulation. Both types of stimulation generate large-scale and reversible changes of the representational topography and of single cell functional properties. We present a model to simulate the spatial and functional reorganizational aspects of this type of short-term and reversible plasticity. The columnar structure of the network architecture is described and discussed from a biological point of view. The simulated architecture contains three main levels of information processing. The first one is a sensor array corresponding to the sensory surface of the hind paw. The second level, a pre-cortical relay cell array, represents the thalamo-cortical projection with different levels of excitatory and inhibitory relay cells and inhibitory nuclei. The array of cortical columns, the third level, represents stellate, double bouquet, basket and pyramidal cell interactions. The dynamics of the network are ruled by two integro-differential equations of the lateral-inhibition type. In order to implement neuronal plasticity, synaptic weight parameters in those equations are variables. The learning rules are motivated by the original concept of Hebb, but include a combination of both Hebbian and non-Hebbian rules, which modifies different intra- and inter-columnar interactions. We discuss the implications of neuronal plasticity from a behavioral point of view in terms of information processing and computational resources.

    Description / Table of Contents: Nylon 6 materials, which are modified with polyglacols and their derivatives or glycerol, are decomposed under pressure with hydrogen iodide acid in a teflon vessel with a steeljacket. The alkyl halides resulting from the modifiers are absorbed by p-xylene and then analyzed by gas chromatography using an internal standard. Measurement in trace ranges is possible with good reproducibility.
    Notes: Polyamidmaterialien, welche mit Polyglykolen, deren Derivaten order mit Glycerol modifiziert sind, Werden mit Iodwasserstoffsäure in einem PTFE-Gefäß mit Stahlmantel unter Druck aufgeschlossen. Die aus den Modifikatioren entsetehenden Slkylhalogennide werden in p-Xylen absorbiert und unter Anwendung eines inneren Standards gaschromato graphisch bestimmt. Messungen im Sputenbereich sind mit guter Reproduzierbarkeit möglich.

    Description / Table of Contents: Quantitative determination of mono or bifunctional foreign substances in terephthalic acid and dimethyl terephthalate is carried out after esterification and extraction by gas chromatographic analysis. Complete separation of all important traces is achieved on liquid crystalline stationary phases. During analysis the matrix compound appears at the end of the chromatogram. Application of this method on polymer analysis is possible after methanolysis of poly(ethylene terephthalate) under pressure.
    Notes: Die quantitative Bestimmung von mono- und bifunktionellen organischen Fremdsubstanzen in Terephthalsäure und Dimethylterephthalat erfolgt nach Veresterung und Extraktion durch gaschromatographische Analyse. An flüssigkristallinen stationären Phasen gelingt eine vollständige Trennung aller interessierenden Spurenverunreinigungen, wobei die Matrixkomponente am Chromatogrammende erscheint. Eine Übertragung der Analysenmethode auf die Polymeranalytik ist nach Druckmethanolyse von Polyethylenterephthalat möglich.

    Description / Table of Contents: Using gas chromatography the solid state polycondensation of poly(tetramethylene terephthalate) was carried out in flowing hydrogen in the temperature range from 170 to 215°C. The influence of molecular weight, reaction temperature and reaction time was investigated and discussed.
    Notes: Unter Anwendung eines Gaschromatographen wurde die Festphasenpolykondensation von Polytetramethylenterephthalat im Temperaturbereich von 170 bis 215°C in strömendem Wasserstoff durchgeführt. Der Einfluß von Molmasse, Reaktionstemperatur und Reaktionszeit wird untersucht und diskutiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: The kinetics of ester-interchange reaction of dimethyl terephthalate and butanediol-1,4 catalyzed by titanium compound was investigated and found to be a first order consecutive reaction. The kinetic constants were calculated from concentration/time functions of the individual compounds determined by gas chromatography.

    Description / Table of Contents: The paper is concerned with the gas chromatographic determination of terephthalic acid and the monomeric terephthalic esters in precondensates of poly(tetramethylene terephthalate), which are prepared by ester interchanging or direct esterification processes. Furthermore, a gas chromatographic method is described for the quantitative determination of methanol, tetrahydrofurane and water, which are main components of the vapours.

Weiterhin wird ein gaschromatographisches Verfahren zur quantitativen Bestimmung der Brüdenbestandteile Methanol, Tetrahydrofuran und Wasser beschrieben.
