Notes: Abstract The experimental momentum spectra of secondary π-mesons and protons from the (π−, N)-interactions at 7 GeV in the laboratory system are compared with the formula given by H. H. Aly, M. F. Kaplon and M. L. Shen [Nuovo Cim.32 (1964), 905]. The fit of the linear-exponential distribution, of Maxwell Boltzmann's distribution and of Planck's law was determined for the experimental histograms of the transverse momenta for the same events. The results obtained are discussed at the end of the paper.

Notes: Abstract An attempt was made of using a liquid phase sintered alloy, which will be a liquid phase coexisting with solid particles at the bonding temperature, as an interlayer for bonding metals. With an aim of revealing the fundamental features of this modified TLP bonding, investigated were the kinetics concerned with the isothermal solidification process and the growth of solid particles in Fe-4.5wt%P and Fe-1.16wt%B interlayers for bonding pure iron. The movement of the bond interface was linearly dependent on t 1/2 with higher slope than expected in the normal TLP bonding. The higher slope is attributed to the contribution of the solid particles distributed in the interlayer. The solid particles have shown no growth. However, when pure Fe particles are allowed to coexist with the liquid of equilibrium composition, they grows very rapidly. Discussion was made on the growth kinetics of the pure Fe particles.

Notes: Abstract InclusiveK s 0 , Λ and $$\bar \Lambda$$ -production has been investigated in $$\bar p$$ p-interactions at 22.4 GeV/c. Total and topological cross sections and multiplicity characteristics of neutral strange particles have been determined. DifferentialK s 0 and Λ-cross sections and also characteristics of annihilation processes with neutral kaon production have been studied. It is shown that the difference of the shapes of the invariantx-distributions forK-mesons in the fragmentation region for annihilation and non-annihilation processes can be described in the framework of the “dual” valon model, but not by considering the current (undressed) quark recombination mechanisms only. The polarization of Λ and $$\bar \Lambda$$ -hyperons has been measured.

Notes: Abstract Ag-Ge alloys containing 15 to 22 wt% Ge were unidirectionally solidified to investigate the growth conditions for fully eutectic growth (the coupled region) in the range of growth rate 1.4 x 10−4 to 1.1 cm sec−1 and at a temperature gradient of 200° C cm−1. Primary silver was not formed in the hypereutectic Ag-Ge alloys, implying that the coupled region of Ag-Ge alloys may be different from that of the other nf-f alloy systems such as Al-Si, Fe-C, Al-Ge and Al-Fe, whose coupled regions are usually skewed towards the faceted component. It was also observed that the morphologies of primary silver, primary germanium and eutectic structure were changed with increasing growth rate. Lamellar colonies were formed prominently in the fast-grown hypereutectic alloys. As the growth rate increased the tendency for branching in massive primary germanium was so pronounced that a lamellar colony was finally formed.

Notes: Abstract Unidirectional solidification of Sb-InSb alloys, 26-34wt% In, was carried out in the range of growth rate 1.2 × 10−4 to 1.2 × 10−1 cms−1 and with a temperature gradient 57° C cm−1. An explanation is given which relates the coupled region with quantitative data concerning the primary phases, e.g. the area fraction and the protrusion length ahead of the eutectic interface. The coupled region can be constructed with reasonable accuracy from those quantities measured. The estimated coupled region is in qualitative agreement with the experimental result.
