Notizen: The complex permeability spectra and the magnetoimpedance (MI) are measured as a function of torsional stress and torsion angle in Fe77.5Si7.5B15 amorphous wire. The permeability spectra show irreversible and reversible relaxation with relaxation frequencies of 40 and 300 kHz, respectively. The static permeability resulted from the irreversible magnetization decreases with torsion angle for a negative direction, but increases with a positive angle. The MI profile shows one symmetric peak for the positive torsion angle, which is same MI behavior as in the case of zero torsion. However, there is a hysteresis in the MI profile for negative torsion, that is, there are two asymmetric peaks for decreasing field and one peak for increasing field. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.

Notizen: The changes in soft magnetic properties on amorphous Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 alloy after neutron irradiation are studied by complex permeability spectra, magnetoimpedance ions and M–H curve measurements. The total integration fluence of fast neutrons (nf,En〉1 MeV) is varied from 1.92×1014nf cm−2 to 4.85×1016nf cm−2. Two different types of relaxation processes in permeability spectra, which were observed in low and high frequency regions, are related to the domain wall motion and the rotational magnetization, respectively. As neutron irradiation fluence increases, the permeability due to domain wall motion decreases but the permeability due to rotational magnetization increases. The anisotropy field estimated from magnetoimpedance profile decreases with neutron irradiation fluence. The measurement of M–H curves shows the improvement of softness after neutron irradiation of 4.85×1016nf cm−2, due to the enhancement of rotational magnetization. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.

Notizen: We have investigated the effect of cooling rate, followed immediately after the isothermal annealing, on the magnetic properties of melt-spun Fe88Zr7B4Cu1 alloy. As the cooling rate is increased, the effective permeability, 2×104, improved by 50% on annealing at around 650 °C. The remanence ratio is also found to concomitantly decrease with the increasing cooling rate. The increase of permeability and decrease of remanence ratio are consistent with the expected suppression of the induced magnetic anisotropy. From an analysis of the transmission electron microscopy micrographs, and the x-ray diffraction spectral intensities, we find that the volume fraction of the amorphous matrix to that of the nanocrystallized magnetic entities to be about 20%, at which the permeability has the maximum value for this system. Scanning electron microscopy and antiferromagnetic investigations show a much smoother surface morphology with a finer grain distribution in the rapidly quenched sample. © 1996 American Institute of Physics.

Notizen: We have carried out the magnetization study of melt-spun ribbons of (Tb0.33Fe0.67)1−xBx (x=0, 0.02, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15) alloys. The temperature dependence of magnetization was measured using a superconducting quantum interference device and a vibrating-sample magnetometer during heating from 5 to 800 K, with an applied field of either 10 or 50 kOe. The present study shows the existence of noncollinear magnetics structures. From an analysis of the approach to saturation magnetization, the average magnetic moment μa, random anisotropy field Hr, and local random anisotropy constant KL have been extracted. It is found that μa decreases from 1.68 (x=0) to 1.33 μB (x=0.15) and KL increases with increasing B concentration. This result suggests that the addition of B seems to increase the random anisotropy and hence to decrease the magnetic order, resulting a sperimagnet with large spread angle. © 1998 American Institute of Physics.

Notizen: Inelastic neutron scattering measurements have been used to study the long wavelength spin dynamics of the high Tc amorphous ferromagnetic alloy Fe78B13Si9 (Metglas 2605S2). Spin waves were observed over the accessible wave-vector range of 0.06 A(ring)−1≤q≤0.12 A(ring)−1, for temperatures between 473 K (0.67 Tc) and 705 K (0.99 Tc). The magnon dispersion curves exhibit the conventional quadratic relationship E=D(T)q2+Δ, typical of an isotropic ferromagnet, where the small energy gap Δ≈0.05 meV is attributed primarily to the dipole-dipole interaction. An estimate of the T=0 value of D≈156 meV A(ring)2 was obtained from a plot of D(T) vs T extrapolated to low temperatures, while the Curie temperature of 710 K was obtained from the extrapolation of D(T) to zero at high temperatures. Spin-wave linewidth data for T/Tc≈0.95 showed the q4 wave-vector dependence expected for magnon-magnon interactions.

Notizen: We have studied the influence of exchange energy and magnetic anisotropy on the magnetic properties of nanocrystalline materials. Amorphous ribbons of composition Fe88Zr7B4Cu1 have been annealed between about 500 and 700 °C. Temperature dependence of magnetization was carried out and nanocrystallized magnetic entities were investigated using the mean field theory and random anisotropy model obtained ferromagnetic correlation length and magneto-crystalline anisotropy constant. The best soft magnetic properties were observed annealed at 650 °C for the smallest magneto-crystalline anisotropy constant (K1) of about 1.40×104 erg/cm3. We obtained average magnetic anisotropy of 0.81 erg/cm3 which is almost negligible compared with K1 at an annealing temperature of 650 °C. The local magneto-crystalline anisotropy is randomly averaged out by strong exchange interaction so that this mechanism provides the basis for the good soft magnetic properties. © 1997 American Institute of Physics.
