XI. Synthesis of nitrobenzaldehydes from benzyl and nitrobenzyl alcohols

Abstract

Nitrobenzaldehydes were obtained from benzyl and nitrobenzyl alcohols by nitration with nitric acid and subsequent splitting of the nitrobenzyl nitrates with sodium hydroxide in alcoholic solution.
