Electrophoretic forming of products from aqueous suspensions of quartz glass

Refractories Aims and scope

Conclusions

Castings having a thickness up to 65 mm and an apparent density slightly higher than that of similar specimens slip-cast in plaster of Paris molds were formed by the electrophoretic method from high-concentration suspensions of quartz glass.

At a thickness of 30 mm the maximum length of the sheets cast by this method was 1000 mm.

The rate of electrophoretic forming is considerably higher than that of slip casting in plaster of Paris molds.
