Abstract
Based on S.E.M. studies of trophi, the generic diagnosis of Brachionus Pallas and Platyias Harring is refined. Plationus n. gen. is erected to accommodate the former B. patulus-group. Platyias latiscapularis is elevated to full specific rank.
