Summary
A variety of experimental investigations has been developed in the last years toward the identification of the symmetry of the order parameter in high-T c superconductors. A short review of the main experiments employing the Josephson effect as a probe for the determination of the symmetry of the pairing state is given. Conflicting data are discussed which evidence the coexistence of certainties and ambiguities.

Recently some doubts have been arised by Klemm (Phys. Rev. Lett., 73, 1874 (1994)) on the possible effect of singularities in the current paths near the corner which can mimic an intrinsic p-junction behavior. D. A. Wollmans, D. J. Van Harlingen and A. J. Leggett (Phys. Rev. Lett, 73, 1872 (1994)) object that their explicit calculations do not show any singularity in the current distribution, which should be in any case removed by the rounding occurring in actual samples.

Objection to the linear extrapolation procedure adopted in ref.[6] is stressed by the authors since not valid for the current asymmetry at I≪Ic, due to the strong nonlinearity of the I(ф) relation see Y. Gim et al.: Bull. Am. Phys. Soc., 39, 655 (1994)).
