Abstract
The correction of phase error in Fourier transform spectroscopy is discussed. Phase error is corrected by multiplying the inverse transform of the measured interferogram by e−iϕ(ω), where ϕ(ω) is the phase error in the spectrum. This error is determined from a low-resolution, two-sided interferogram. It is absolutely essential that the truncation-apodization function which multiplies the interferogram have an even part which is symmetric about the x=0 position. If this function is not properly located, large errors in the corrected spectrum can occur.
