Abstract
A simple method is described for increasing the filling factor of a cavity resonator by means of a spiral, which reduces the group velocity and hence raises the local power around the specimen. These spirals raise the sensitivity tenfold in existing ESR spectrometers if the specimen is small and does not saturate; they also reduce the effective recording length for the signal and may extend the use of ESR in chemistry.
