Abstract
Fusion excitation functions and differential cross sections for elastic scattering of aligned, deformedNa on spherical58Ni nuclei are calculated as functions of the orientation of the projectile axis with respect to the scattering plane. Polarisation effects of up to 20% are predicted for a beam of fully aligned23Na nuclei.
