Abstract
The pattern of PCB-residues was studied in male rats after the application of tetrachlorobiphenyl (TCB). Four weeks after i.p. injection of 1 g/kg TCB the adipose tissue contains 338 μg/g. Combined capillary gas-liquid chromatography and mass-spectrometry revealed a considerable shift to the higher chlorinated components (penta- and hexachlorobiphenyl — 63 %) in the PCB-pattern of the residue. The proportion of these compounds in the total PCB content of the TCB administered was only 5 %. The tri- and tetrachlorobiphenyls decreased, indicating much higher metabolism. Therefore we may conclude that tetrachlorobiphenyl is acceptable with regard to environmental pollution if it does not contain more higher chlorinated components.
4 Wochen nach i.p.
