Summary

A method is described for microdetermination of some steroid sex-hormones based on the optical properties of these compounds. The optical rotatory dispersion spectra of testosterone, progesterone, estrone and androstanalone show rotation maxima at 250, 300, 310 and 305 nm, respectively. The rotation values are proportional, in linear relations, to the hormone concentration ranging from 15 μg up to 2.5 mg/ml. Binary mixtures of some of these hormones are also simultaneously determined by rotation measurement at two wave lengths. The results show an average recovery of 99.8%, the maximum absolute error being ± 2%.
