Zusammenfassung
Der Stoffwechsel von Steroidhormonen, die exogen appliziert werden, kann durch eine Reihe von Arzneimitteln beeinflußt werden. Klinisch bedeutsam ist das Induktionsphänomen, das durch Barbiturate, durch Diphenylhydantoin und speziell Rifampicin hervorgerufen wird und Enzyme betrifft, die Östrogene und andere Steroidhormone abbauen. Besonders stark beeinflußt wird die mikrosomale Östrogen-2-hydroxylase. Eine andere klinisch wichtige Möglichkeit der Interaktion ist die Beeinträchtigung des enterohepatischen Kreislaufs. Sie wurde beobachtet nach Applikation von Cholestyramin oder von Antibiotika (z. B. Ampicillin, Neomycin).
