Summary

The histochemical and histoenzymological properties of the epithelial band of the Crista ampullaris have been studied. The results show that this epithel possesses a strong metabolic activity and produces mostly neutral mucoprotides. Therefore we got to the end, that those substances concur with the cupula formation.

Zusammenfassung

Die histochemischen und histoenzymologischen Eigenschaften der Übergangszone der Crista ampullaris oder „epithelial band” wurden studiert. Die Resultate ergaben, daß das Epithel der Übergangszone eine gute metabolische Aktivität besitzt und meistens neutrale Mucoprotiden produziert. Wir gelangten dabei zur Auffassung, daß diese Substanzen zur Cupulabildung mitwirken.
