Abstract
A systematic error in the determination of the Fe, Mg contents of biotites by X-ray intensity measurements of the 001 reflections by the Franzini and Schiaffino-method is investigated. It was found that the results are strongly influenced by the number of vacancises within the octahedral layer, and in the interlayer of the investigated biotites.
