Crustal features of some main suture zones along the European Geotraverse

Zusammenfassung

Die Europäische Geotraverse (EGT) quert entlang eines 4000 km langen Profils vom Nordkap bis nach Tunesien die folgenden hauptsächlichen Suturzonen:

  • die Tornquist-Teisseyre-Zone zwischen dem Baltischen Schild und dem variskischen Mitteleuropa,

  • die Übergangszonen zwischen Rhenoherzymkum und Saxothuringikum bzw. zwischen Saxothuringikum und Moldanubikum im variskischen Teil Mitteleuropas, sowie

  • die Kollisionszone zwischen dem europäischen Kontinent und der adriatischen Mikroplatte

Einige strukturelle Aspekte aus diesen drei unterschiedlichen Suturzonen werden beschrieben.

Abstract

The European Geotraverse (EGT) crosses along a 4000 km profile from the North Cape to Tunisia the following main suture zones:

  • the Tornquist-Teisseyre zone between the Baltic Shield and the Variscan realm,

  • the transition zones between Rhenohercynian and Saxothuringian as well as between Saxothuringian and Moldanubian zones in the Variscan part of central Europe, and

  • the collision zone between the European continent and the Adriatic microplate.

Some structural aspects of these suture zones are described.

Résumén

La geotraversa europea (EGT) consta de un perfil de 4000 km y vá desde el Cabo del Norte hasta Tunisia atravesando las siguientes principales zonas de suturacion:

  • la zona Tornquist-Teisseyre entre el escudo baltico y las Variscidas en Europa central,

  • la zona de transición entre el Rhenohercinico y el Saxothuringico, o sea entre el Saxothuringico y el Moldanúbico en la parte variscida de la Europa central, y

  • la zona colisional entre el continente europeo y el microbloque adriático.

Algunos aspectos estructurales de estas très diferentes zonas de suturación serán descritos.

Европейская геотрав ерза (ЕGТ) пересекает пр офиль длиной в 4000 км, простира ющийся от Нордкапа до Туниса, в следующих точках, представляющ их собой гл. обр. зоны швов:

  • в зоне между балтийск им щитом и варисской с редней Европой;

  • в переходных зонах ме жду реногерцинием и саксотюрингием, или же саксотюрингие м и молданубием в варисской части сре дней Европы;

  • в зоне коллизий между европейским контине нтами адриатической микро плитой.

Описаны некоторые ст руктурные особеннос ти этих трех различных зон шв ов.
