Summary
It is demonstrated that the lipolytic effect of the pituitary fraction H is caused by a stimulation of the hormone sensitive lipase in adipose tissue. Over a range of 10–500 μg fraction H the free fatty acids in serum of rabbits gave an s-shaped log dose-response curve. By increasing the amount of the lipolytic substance there was a significant elevation of free fatty acids persisting more than eight hours.
