Summary
Using aqueous GaCl3 and chloride containing Ga(ClO4)3 solutions measurements have been carried out to investigate the formation of complexes with mixed ligands beside the [GaCl4]− ion. In contrast to the Raman spectra, which contain only the signals of the [GaCl −4 ] and the [Ga(H2O)6]3+ ion, the71Ga-NMR spectra give clear evidence for the existence of complexes with mixed ligands. Investigations at low temperatures showed their coordination to be octahedral resulting in species [GaCln(H2O)6−n ](3−n)+.
