Abstract
WE have made a metallographic examination of a 250-g slice of the Jamestown iron meteorite. The meteorite was first reported by Huntington1 as a mass of 4 kg, with a dished, flake-like shape of maximum dimensions 26 × 13 × 3.7 cm, and with two entirely different external surfaces—a smooth convex side, and a slaggy, vesicular, concave side, pitted by circular cavities up to 2 cm in diameter. Buchwald2 has reported on the general metallography of the Jamestown Iron but does not record which of the many sections of this meteorite his description is based on.
