The Galapagos Triple Junction and Plate Motions in the East Pacific

Abstract

Determinations of the relative motions of the three rigid plates which meet at a triple junction lead to an estimate of the pole position for one plate if the motions of the other two are well determined. In this way, the Pacific-Nazca pole is found to a fair approximation.
