Parolfactory Vesicles as Photoreceptors in a Deep-sea Squid

Abstract

THE recent finding1 that the parolfactory vesicles of Loligo have the structural and biochemical properties of photoreceptors prompts this preliminary communication on the organization of these organs in a cranchid squid, Liocranchia sp. (see ref. 2).
