Summary
MaleChoristoneura fumiferana are disrupted by atmospherically permeating any blend of the 2 sex pheromone components. The mechanisms of disruption and attraction are different and appear to result from decisions in the brain based on chemical and physical characteristics of the air and pheromone plumes surrounding a pheromone source.
