Abstract

A description is given of HgH as a two-level laser system involving rate equations for the kinetic processes in discharges of Hg, H2 and He. Discharge simulations show that laser efficiencies up to 5% should be possible. Good agreement between theory and experiment was found for the spontaneous HgH* emission in UV preionized discharges.
