Summary
-
1.
Arylmercury, triaryllead, and triaryltin derivatives of N-vinylphthalamic (I) and o- and p-acrylamido (and methacrylamido) benzoic (II) acids were prepared for the first time.
-
2.
The most readily polymerized are the organomercury derivatives, and in order of rate of polymerization we have Hg>Sn>Pb.
-
3.
The polymers obtained differ in thermal stability in a way that depends on the linkage [-CO-NH-(I) and-NH-CO-(II)] between the benzene ring and the vinyl group in the monomer and on the nature of the metal in the organometallic monomer.
-
4.
With respect to thermal stability the organometallic polymers studied form the series: Sn>Pb>Hg.
