Conclusions

  1. 1.

The method of radioactive indicators with the use of labeled glucose has been used to show that under the conditions for the synthesis of carbohydrates from formaldehyde the rate of the retroaldol splitting of the hexoses is significantly lower than the rate of synthesis.

  2. 2.

Under the conditions for the condensation of the formaldehyde, a significant portion of the carbohydrates heavier than the hexoses forms as a result of the cocondensation and self-condensation of low-molecular-weight carbohydrates and possibly by means of the disproportionation of carbohydrates with the participation of hexoses and low-molecular-weight carbohydrates.
