Abstract
Descriptions of the species of Eimeria infecting rodents of the genus Apodemus have been examined and compared in the light of recently published data from experiments with cloned parasites. Previous reviews are discussed and as a result the synonymy between parasites, which has previously been dismissed, is re-evaluated. We conclude that 21 named species of Eimeria may infect Apodemus spp: three less than was suggested by Levine & Ivens (1990).
