Synthesis and 183W- and 51V-n.m.r. characterization of the α-GaW9V3O40 8− heteropolyanion

Summary

The trivanadium-substituted heteropolytungstates M5H3GaW9V3O40·xH2O (M = Me4N, Et4N or K) have been prepared from their lacunary precursor, α-Na9GaW9O34H2, and characterized by elemental analysis, 51V- and 183W-n.m.r. spectroscopy, and electrochemistry. The 183W-n.m.r. spectrum of the title anion consists of two lines as expected for the C 3v structure of the trisubstituted A-α-Keggin anion.
