Summary
The DNA- and RNA-synthesis of the lymph node cells were determined by incubation for 1 hour of freshly extirpated lymphomas with H3-thymidine and H3-cytidine. Ten cases of Hodgkin's disease, 5 cases of reticulosarcoma, 5 cases of chronic lymphatic leukaemia, 2 cases of acute leukaemia, 1 case of giant follicular lymphoma and 12 cases of lymphatic hyperplasia were examined. The large basophilic lymph node cells had the highest DNA- and RNA-synthesis. Normal or immunologically stimulated proliferating cells showed a higher thymidine incorporation than pathologic cell types. There was a great similarity in the nucleic acid synthesis between the lymphnodes of benign lymphatic hyperplasia and of Hodgkin's disease. The other lymphomas revealed different but in each case typical labelling patterns.
