Schwere kalzifizierende Atherosklerose der thorakalen Aorta mit Symptomen einer Aortenisthmusstenose Fallbeschreibung

Zusammenfassung

Eine isolierte kalzifizierende Arteriosklerose der thorakalen Aorta mit fast vollständiger Ausfüllung des Aortenlumens verursachte bei einer 56 jährigen Patientin typische Symptome wie bei einer Aortenisthmusstenose. Bemerkenswert an dem hier beschriebenen Fall ist sowohl die atypische und isolierte Lokalisation der Erkrankung in der deszendierenden thorakalen Aorta, als auch das Ausmaß der Verkalkungen. Die Ausgangsbefunde von Angiographie und Computertomographie (CT) des Thorax ließen differential-diagnostisch an einen verkalkenden Aortentumor, eine sekundär verkalkte Wanddissektion oder an eine abgelaufene Aortitis denken.

Summary

Calcifying obliterative atherosclerosis isolated within the descending thoracic aorta causing subtotal vascular occlusion was associated with symptoms such as in aortic coarctation in a 56-year-old patient. Remarkable in this unique case is the atypical and isolated manifestation of atherosclerotic disease within the thoracic aorta, as well as the tumorous extent of luminal calcification. Differential diagnostic considerations had to include calcifying tumor of the aorta, remnants after aortitis or secondary calcified aortic dissection.
