Zusammenfassung
Mit Hilfe eines kleinen und großen Spirometersystems und zweier Ultrarotabsorptionsschreiber werden Messungen des funktionellen Totraumes unter Verwendung der Bohrschen Formel und Bestimmung des alveolären Kohlensäuredruckes sowie des absoluten Totraumes an drei gesunden Versuchspersonen durchgeführt. Der absolute und der funktionelle Totraum nehmen mit größer werdender Ausatemgeschwindigkeit bei rechnerisch konstant gehaltener Ausatemzeit statistisch gesichert zu. Die Verändcrung des funktionellen und absoluten Totraumes beträgt etwa 10 cm3 pro 100 cm3/sec Ausatemgeschwindigkeit.
Der alveoläre Kohlensäuredruck hat weder Einfluß auf die Größe des funktionellen und absoluten Totraumes noch auf deren Korrelation zur Ausatemgeschwindigkeit.
Bei Verschiebungen der Atemmittellage bleiben bei konstanter Atemtiefe der absolute und funktionelle Totraum normal. Die bei vergrößerter Atemtiefe vergrößert gefundenen Totraumwerte nehmen bei Atemanhalten rascher als bei Normalatmung ab und nähern sich einem gemeinsamen Endwert. Die in den Bronchien und in der Lungenperipherie stärker wirksamen Mischungsvorgänge werden als Ursache dieses Verhaltens angesehen. Im 4. Teil der Arbeit werden der absolute und funktionelle Totraum bei jüngeren und älteren Versuchspersonen untersucht. Die absoluten Werte der Totraumgrößen stimmen bei beiden Altersgruppen überein, woraus gefolgert wird, daß eine im Alter eintretende Residualluftvermehrung und Erhöhung der Atemmittellage allein keine Zunahme des Totraumes verursacht. Atemanhalteversuche bei beiden Altersgruppen zeigen, daß auch die Vorgänge, welche die Atemluft mit der Alveolarluft mischen und die eine Verkleinerung der Totraumgrößen bewirken, bei älteren Personen in gleichem Ausmaß wie bei jüngeren wirksam sind.
