Conclusion

The rat insulinoma line RIN-5AH-T2 has several advantages over the normal rat islet cells to detect ICSA:1. The RIN cell population is homogenous, whereas PRI cells contain other cell types in addition to B-cells; 2. large quantities of RIN cells can be easily prepared; 3. the rat insulinoma line should make it possible to compare more readily results from different laboratories.
