Summary

Neuromuscular relations in smooth muscle layers of the vas deferens of the albino rat were investigated. In certain neuromuscular contacts membrane specialization have been described in most cases consisting of symmetrical “thickenings” by apposition of an electron dense material to each membrane. Sometimes, the thickenings show an asymmetrical position. The significance of this finding is discussed.
