Biological Sciences: Cellular Lipid Inclusions in the White Matter in Multiple Sclerosis

Abstract

WE have obtained evidence to support the suggestion that fatty acid1–4 and glycolipid4–8 metabolism is defective in the white matter outside acute plaques of multiple sclerosis. Histochemical techniques show two types of intracellular lipid inclusions in such apparently normal areas.
