Abstract
THE thromboplastie enzyme, autoprothrombin C, is a material of special importance to investigators whose interests are concerned with blood coagulation. The term ‘autoprothrombin C’ was given to this substance by Kowarzyk and Marciniak1 to account for the property of some thrombin preparations to promote prothrombin consumption in hæmophilia plasma. Later, Marciniak and Seegers2 were able to obtain autoprothrombin C from purified prothrombin preparations, the autoprothrombin C generating simultaneously with thrombin in 25 per cent sodium citrate solutions. Seegers et al.3 then purified autoprothrombin C and documented some of its physio-chemical properties.
