Summary
Amino acid transport in the bullfrog small intestine was specifically inhibited by application of Cd2+ to the mucosal fluid. This inhibition was dose-dependent, reversible and competitive in nature. In contrast, Hg2+ inhibited both amino acid transport and sugar transport: the inhibition by Hg2+ was non-graded, irreversible and non-competitive in nature.
