Summary
-
1.
An estimate is made of the effect of the screening of the dropping electrode on the value of the diffusion current.
-
2.
It is shown that screening of part of the electrode surface results in a reduction in the correction coefficient for sphericity in the corrected Ilkovic equation.
-
3.
The lack of accord in the values found by various authors for the correction coefficient taking into account the sphericity of the electrode — both among themselves and also with the theoretically deduced values — is explained by differences in the extent of the screening of the electrode.
-
4.
Lowering of the diffusion-current constant at a low rate of dropping is explained by an increase in the extent of screening.
