Summary
Defective interfering particles, present within a high passage inoculum ofAutographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcMNPV), interfered with recombinant β-galactosidase and infectious virus production in three insect cell lines. These particles were Selected during serial passage, were missing large parts of the AcMNPV genome, and caused large reductions in β-galactosidase production at multiplicities of infection above 0.01 pfu/cell.
