Summary
Batch cultures ofSaccharomycopsis fibuligera on a starch medium showed that the aerobic growth of the yeast was limited by total carbohydrate contents of the substrate, no inhibitory effect of metabolites being noticeable. Cell numbers increased earlier than dry weights of the biomass during adaptation to the medium. A significative increase in cell sizes accompanied active carbohydrate metabolism.
