Abstract

A129I Mössbauer spectroscopic study of iodine adducts of [2]ferrocenophane, biruthenocene, and osmocene is reported. The spectra show the existence of iodine bonded to the central metals of metallocenes in addition to triiodide anions. The valence state of iron in the [2]ferrocenophane-iodine adduct is the same as those of ruthenium and osmium in their adducts.
